Chelsea's French Toast with Bananas Foster

A rich and indulgent breakfast treat featuring Challah bread French toast topped with a decadent bananas foster.

Roasted Tomato Soup
Champagne – Never say no. It’s been raised in a toast to celebrate all that’s good for centuries!

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Challah bread per person
  • 3-4 eggs, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 Tbs of butter
  • 1 banana per person - sliced
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. of dark rum
  • Pure maple syrup or powdered sugar to taste

Preparation

  1. 1.Slice bread to desired thickness and dip in egg wash.
  2. 2.Grill in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat using 2 tablespoons of butter. Cook all slices and set aside.
  3. 3.Add 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet on medium heat.
  4. 4.Add bananas and brown sugar.
  5. 5.Sauté until sugar melts and bananas soften.
  6. 6.Turn to medium-high heat.
  7. 7.Carefully add 1/4 cup dark rum and add flame to burn off alcohol.
  8. 8.Plate French toast and add banana foster topping.
  9. 9.Top with maple syrup or powdered sugar to taste.
