Seared Sesame Encrusted Ahi with Avocado, Soy, Ginger, and Lime
A sophisticated and flavorful dish featuring seared ahi tuna, coated in sesame seeds, complemented by a zesty sauce and fresh avocado.

Ingredients
- 24 oz tuna (Sushi grade block cut)
- 1/3 c. cilantro - chopped
- 4 tsp grated fresh ginger
- 4 garlic cloves - minced
- 6 limes (for juice)
- 6 Tbs soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper
- 2 Tbs olive oil
- Toasted and black sesame seeds
- 3 ripe avocados
Preparation
- 1.In a mixing bowl, combine finely chopped cilantro, grated fresh ginger, minced garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- 2.Heat a cast iron skillet over medium high heat and coat with 2 tablespoons of grape seed oil, olive oil is a suitable substitute.
- 3.Season the tuna with salt and pepper and coat the top and bottom with toasted and black sesame seeds.
- 4.Sear the tuna for one minute on each side. Shut off heat.
- 5.Add half of the mixed ingredients, generously coating the tuna.
- 6.Slice the tuna down and serve it with the remaining mixture as a topping along with sliced or chopped avocado.
- 7.Finish with chopped cilantro and enjoy.
